The Head of Product Legal will oversee and manage all legal and regulatory aspects of the company (Yolo Entertainment and Yolo Platform), ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. This role is essential to protecting the business from legal risks and maintaining the integrity of the company’s operations. The person will work closely with senior leadership to develop legal strategies from a B2B and B2C products perspective.
✍️ Your responsibilities:
- Building and running a team of lawyers to meet the current and future demands of the company and its products;
- Providing proactive and practical legal advice to senior management and stakeholders on all aspects of the field where the company is active;
- Leveraging extensive business and industry knowledge to provide high-quality legal support across all customer-focused and business-facing areas;
- Monitoring and staying updated on changes in legislation, ensuring timely adaptation to regulatory changes affecting the business;
- Managing the company’s legal risk by ensuring robust internal legal frameworks and processes are in place;
- Ensuring all contractual obligations and terms are met and that contracts are aligned with legal and business objectives;
- Identifying, hiring and retaining high quality specialists to be a part of the legal team;
- Understanding the “big picture” and long term objectives of the company, and incorporating these into all aspects of legal in the company;
- Taking the time to properly understand the problem or transaction and alternative approaches to deliver with confident decision making;
- Being an inspirational leader with a focus on unblocking individuals so that they can learn, grow and develop into leaders in their own right;
- Participating in risk management and mitigation at the highest industry level - leading by example to ensure that all aspects of the company are managing legal risks within the businesses risk appetite;
- Being accountable for all legal matters around the business, whether internal or external, across the whole company;
- Responsible for uncovering the unknown unknowns and, with the support of the wider business, ensuring legal soundness in all areas.
✔️ What we expect from you
- At least 5 years of experience in working as a practicing lawyer and/or leadership of an in-house legal function;
- Experience in working in an international company with multiple entities across different jurisdictions and continents;
- The ability to navigate complex legal topics, as well as a natural ability to communicate complex legal matters to senior management;
- A thorough understanding of the Gaming industry;
- An effortless ability to marry the commercial objectives of the business with sound and comprehensive corporate governance, management and oversight;
- Passionate about the customer experience and the ability to cultivate the same mindset within the team;
- Self-motivated and being able to take ownership in a dynamic environment with a positive, ‘can- do’ mindset and ability to multitask;
- Excellent analytical skills with the capacity of identifying all risks and proactively choosing the business-oriented solutions;
- Effective communicator able to communicate across all levels of the business and influence key internal and external stakeholders to provide expert advice supporting the strategic agenda;
- Exceptionally good leadership skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams towards a unified direction;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
- The ability to propose remedy measures to rectify complex legal issues;
- Strategic thinking skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills - time management, analytical, self-driven with strong sense of loyalty and confidentiality, courage to speak up and highlight where matters need to be raised;
- The ability to work under pressure and strict timeframes.
